Job description

Job Description One Tech Engineering is searching for a Payroll Specialist for a position located in Appleton, Wisconsin. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing union payroll, reports, and government taxes. The candidate must be a US Citizen or a green card holder, the position is not eligible for sponsorship.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of payroll experience. Local candidates preferred or open to relocation. This is not a remote position.

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities: Coordinate with field management staff to collect union new hire paperwork. Ensure information is complete and accurate, following up on any issues or missing information. Create union employee record in ERP system, updating employment data or status changes.

Ensure severance, termination, and disciplinary forms are reflected appropriately. Using reports, review field time entry for potential errors in hours, union, pay class, and per diem. Follow up with site teams and address as appropriate prior to payroll processing.

Process weekly union payroll and off-cycle checks in a timely manner by importing time details and validating entries created. Confirm calculation of earnings, deductions, garnishments, union liabilities, and taxes. Ensure paychecks are distributed on time.

Prepare monthly union remittances. Using system reports, calculate amounts and submit payment requests, ensuring reconciliation between liabilities accrued and payments. Match payments with labor details and remit to appropriate funds.

Prepare reports, check for accuracy, and resolve discrepancies as part of business recordkeeping and compliance activities. Respond to and resolve inquiries related to union employee payroll. Submit new hire reports to state agencies Process child support and other court orders as necessary.

Requirements of the Payroll Specialist: High School Diploma/GED and at least 3 years of payroll experience. Union construction payroll experience is preferred. Experience processing construction payroll preferred.

Experience with Oracle or other large software vendors preferred. Must have excellent organizational skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to use Excel to manipulate and analyze data.
