Westfield, New Jersey 
Safety and Security Monitor
Full-Time Position
Union County Educational Services Commission is a public school district located in Westfield, NJ that was established to provide cost-effective educational services for the 21 member districts in Union County. The Commission is currently seeking a School Safety and Security Monitor to fill a full-time position at Hillcrest Academy North Campus in Scotch Plains, NJ. This small public alternative high school was developed to provide highly supportive and individualized programs to academic, socially and emotionally at-risk students unable to meet success in a traditional educational environment.
 






Description:

  • Full-Time, 10-Month Position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:20 - 2:40 p.m.
  • NJ State Pension Enrollment

  • Salary: $32,307- $36,969 (based on experience)

Sample Responsibilities:

Assist in maintaining order by monitoring school entrances and exits, corridors, grounds, and all teaching and non-teaching areas of the school building.
Investigate complaints, suspicious conditions, and any other occurrences that would endanger school personnel, students, and/or school property and equipment.
Actively respond to student altercations, crisis interventions, and other emergency management situations. 
Report safety/security concerns and other unusual circumstances to building administrators. 



Qualifications: 
        1. Earned a high school diploma. 

        2. A minimum of 60 credits from a regionally-accredited college or university is preferred.

        3. Experience working with children and adolescents, including individuals with disabilities, preferably in a school setting. 

        4. Prior experience in law enforcement, emergency management, safety and security, or other related field preferred. 

        5. Interpersonal skills needed to relate well with school administrators, teaching staff, students, parents, law enforcement officials, and members of the local community. 

        6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper vocabulary and grammar.
