Position: Associate Technical Designer, Apparel

Categories: Mens & Ladies: Active, Lounge, Underwear

Location: New York, NY: In Office (Midtown, Manhattan)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Associate Technical Designer to support the fit approval process from development through production.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with expertise in fit, patternmaking, and product lifecycle management.

This role will be reporting into the Head of Technical Design and independently own specific categories, while also supporting other Senior Technical Designers across all divisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing Garments: Measure and review a high volume of Samples with exceptional accuracy (est. 20+ Samples per week)
  • Fittings: Lead and conduct fittings on both live fit model and Dress Form 3-4 times per week
  • Pattern Expertise: Develop and maintain block specs and grading.  Analyze factory paper patterns and make pattern corrections
  • Tech Pack Ownership: Create and maintain detailed tech packs in Excel, including specs, grading, and construction details.  Communicate detailed fit comments to Vendors through written summaries, sketches, and photos
  • Time and Action Management: Develop and maintain production calendars, regular communication with Vendors on deadlines
  • Cross Functional Support: Support Senior Technical Designers in all other divisions

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-2+ minimum years of experience in a technical design or patternmaking role (1 year of an internship w/ a Technical Design or Patternmaking team can be considered)
  • Advanced patternmaking knowledge. Ability to analyze patterns and translate garment fit issues to pattern corrections
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.  Competencies include data entry & formatting, utilizing formulas, sorting & filtering, look up functions, logical & advanced functions, pivot tables, conditional formatting, data validation  
  • Intermediate proficiency in Illustrator & Photoshop.  Must be able to utilize Illustrator and Photoshop to draw sketches and pattern corrections

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in AI & 3D programs, such as Browzwear V-Stitcher, CLO, Fermat

Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000 (Annually)
