Admit Representative
Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Variable Shifts

Compensation: Starting pay begins at $16.85 per hour, with competitive rates based on experience and education.
Schedule: Variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

What You'll Do as an Admit Representative
  • Facilitate patient admissions by obtaining required demographic, insurance, and pre-certification information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff to ensure accuracy and efficiency during the registration process.
  • Maintain compliance with privacy, confidentiality, and safety standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing questions and concerns professionally and compassionately.
  • Coordinate with clinical departments to ensure accurate patient flow and documentation.
  • Support the team in achieving high standards for patient experience, safety, and quality.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to the Mission, Vision, and Values of UNC Health Appalachian.
Qualifications
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:
  • 3-6 months of prior experience in a medical or office setting preferred.

Licenses/Certifications:
  • None required.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in computer systems, word processing, and basic math.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused demeanor.
Physical & Work Environment
  • Frequent sitting (up to 8 hours per shift), with periods of standing and walking.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity and near acuity required.
  • Occasionally lift or move up to 30 lbs.
  • Exposure to electrical/mechanical equipment, cleaning agents, and hospital environment risks.
  • May work irregular hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
