Youโll be the expert who keeps our Marion manufacturing lines powered, controlled, and safe. From precision installations to rapid troubleshooting, youโll protect uptime and enhance reliability across complex electrical and automation systems.
What problems will I solve?
- Layout and install electrical circuits, equipment, and control devices with minimal oversight.
- Diagnose and correct electrical and controls issues to avoid production delays.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant assets.
- Read and act on electrical drawings and schematics.
- Model OSHA-compliant work practices and GM safety procedures.
- Partner across departments and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Bring rigorous problem-solving to complex technical situations.
Who succeeds in this role?
- Journeyperson electricians with 6+ years of related experience OR a U.S. Department of Labor Certificate of Completion in the Electrical trade.
- Professionals 18+ who can flex across day, afternoon, and night shifts, plus overtime, weekends, and holidaysโoften with short notice.
- Teammates who work safely, communicate clearly, and support cross-functional goals.
- Current GM employees under a collective bargaining agreement should contact their local HR/LR for placement opportunities.
Compensation and classification
- Role may be filled as Journeyperson In Training (JIT) or Journeyperson.
- JIT range: $37.77โ$44.06; Journeyperson rate: $44.96.
- Credentials and interview outcomes determine final status and pay.
Physical requirements
- Rapid response to alarms and safety signals.
- Extended standing and movement around a busy plant.
- Comfort using personal protective equipment.
- Bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, reaching; lift/carry up to 50 lbs (as required).
- Occasional seated work; operate mobile equipment when needed.
Where will I work? Do you cover relocation?
- This is an onsite position at our Marion facility; full-time on-location presence is required.
- This job is not eligible for relocation assistance. Relocation and travel expenses are the responsibility of the applicant.
