Job Description

Brevard County is an Equal Opportunity and Veterans' Preference employer. Part time. Continuous recruitment – applications will be active for 3 months. To be considered for this position after 3 months, applicant must reactivate their application. $12.13 hourly. North Area/Mims/Titusville. Part-time/2 hours daily (mornings and afternoons) on school days. Responsible for the safe and orderly crossing of school-age children at assigned location.

Requirements

No formal training or experience is required. Experience as a crossing guard or other work with elementary school-age children is preferred. Must be of good moral character as determined by a background investigation. Must be able to pass the Brevard County Performance Checklist for School Crossing Guards prior to assuming School Crossing Guard duties. Must have, in good working order, a telephone at residence or a personal cell phone. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster, that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Typing Test Information

The Typing Test is administered Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For each clerical position requiring a minimum typing speed, applications are considered only after the applicant has submitted written proof of the minimum required typing speed. Written verification of your typing test must be submitted with each application. It is your responsibility to be tested and provide proof of test scores by the last date and time to apply. Testing will be administered at the Government Center in the Office of Human Resources, Bldg B, Second Floor, 2725 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, FL, 32940, during the above times. We will also accept written verification of current typing test scores from other agencies. The verification must be on official letterhead indicating: (1) gross and net words per minute (2) the date the test was administered.
