Job description

Tyonek Services Group, Inc. is seeking an Aviation Safety Manager to support in house flight department. The Aviation Safety Manager serves as the primary authority for all flight safety matters within the aviation department. This individual owns the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the department's Safety Management System (SMS); ensures full FAA regulatory compliance; leads hazard identification, risk management, and accident/incident investigations; and fosters a proactive, data-driven safety culture across all operations. This position with Tyonek will be in support of a in-house flight department operating a mixed fleet of fixed-wing aircraft and helicopters under 14 CFR Part 135 and Part 91 in support of executive transport, crew changes, surveillance, and offshore logistics. This is an onsite position in Anchorage, AK.Duties:Manage all four SMS pillars (Safety Policy, Safety Risk Management, Safety Assurance, Safety Promotion) in alignment with FAA AC 120-92 and ICAO Annex 19 standards Ensure compliance with 14 CFR Parts 91, 135, 43, and 49 CFR Part 830; serve as primary liaison with FAA CMO/FSDO Administer the confidential safety reporting system; monitor Safety Performance Indicators and trend data Lead Safety Risk Management analyses for new operations, routes, landing zones, and procedural changes Conduct internal safety audits and support external audits (FAA, IS-BAO, insurance, third-party) Lead accident/incident investigations using recognized methodologies (HFACS, BowTie, Root Cause Analysis); ensure NTSB reporting compliance Oversee Flight Data Monitoring/FOQA programs and emergency response planning, including annual drills Deliver safety training, meetings, newsletters, and awareness campaigns for all aviation personnel Education/Experience Requirements:Expert knowledge of aviation safety science and best practices 5+ years in aviation operations with 2+ years in a dedicated safety role Demonstrated SMS development and management experience in a Part 135/91 environment Experience in either fixed-wing or rotary-wing operations Proven expertise in aviation safety audits, risk management, and investigations Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills Bachelor's degree in Aviation Safety or related discipline Oil and gas aviation experience, including offshore helicopter operations FAA pilot certificate (Commercial/ATP) or A&P certificate CSP, ARM, or equivalent safety certification; IS-BAO experience FOQA/FDM program experiencePhysical Requirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
