Job description

This position is contingent on contract award.

General Description

Aircraft mechanical personnel support KC-135 aircraft maintenance operations. This position is based at Fairchild AFB, WA and requires CONUS/OCONUS travel to support maintenance operations throughout the United States and overseas. Ideal candidates are experienced KC-135 Crew Chiefs with a strong background in flight line maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and ensuring aircraft mission readiness.

Duties

  • Perform Organizational, Intermediate, and Depot-Level maintenance on KC-135 aircraft.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, servicing, and repairs.
  • Troubleshoot aircraft systems and identify corrective actions.
  • Remove, replace, repair, and modify aircraft components and assemblies.
  • Read and interpret Technical Orders, engineering drawings, maintenance manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform operational and functional checks.
  • Support aircraft launches, recoveries, and maintenance inspections.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Travel as required to support mission requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Technical Orders, and structural repair manuals.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 4 - 6 years on-the-job experience performing Organizational, Intermediate, or Depot-Level aircraft maintenance on wide-body aircraft, preferably KC-135.
  • Formal aviation avionics training from a technical trade or military technical school is preferred.
  • A Federal Communication Commission (FCC) License or an Airframe and Powerplant License issued by the FAA with commensurate General or Military Aviation experience is desired but not required.
  • Must possess the ability and equivalent experience to read and comprehend mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport and any required visas or travel documentation for CONUS/OCONUS travel.
  • Experience operating ground support equipment.
  • Knowledge of using specialized equipment, tools, and test equipment in accordance with appropriate USAF Technical Orders and Job Guides preferred.
  • Must have a valid state driver's license when required by job assignment.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a secret security clearance
  • Must be able to work, day shift, night shift, weekends, holidays, overtime, or adjusted schedules as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain base access, Common Access Card, and required Government system access.

  • May be required to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • May be required to read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
