AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE PLANNER

Objective

The Aircraft Maintenance Planner is responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and scheduling of aircraft maintenance activities to ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. This role serves as a key liaison between maintenance teams, flight operations, and external vendors, ensuring all maintenance events are proactively planned, properly resourced, and executed within established timelines.

Responsibilities & Duties

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize aircraft maintenance schedules, including inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Forecast maintenance requirements based on utilization, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer recommendations
  • Coordinate maintenance planning for both base and deployed aircraft operations

Work Order & Systems Management

  • Create, manage, and update maintenance work orders within systems (e.g., Corridor or equivalent)
  • Ensure accuracy of maintenance records, tracking systems, and compliance documentation
  • Monitor maintenance status and provide real-time updates to stakeholders

Coordination & Communication

  • Serve as primary point of contact for maintenance planning communication with internal teams and external customers and develop maintenance quotes
  • Communicate with customers and employees in person, on phone, and through electronic communications (email and text)
  • Coordinate with Parts and Procurement teams to ensure timely availability of materials and services
  • Collaborate with flight operations to align maintenance schedules with aircraft availability and mission requirements
  • Debrief discrepancies and ensure proper documentation and scheduling of corrective actions
  • Participate in department scheduling meetings, maintenance reviews, and operational briefings.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all maintenance planning activities comply with FAA regulations, company policies, and safety standards
  • Participate in audits, document reviews, and process improvement initiatives

Assist in developing and improving maintenance planning procedures, training materials, and workflows

  • Support a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Director of Maintenance. However, must ensure alignment the Chief Inspector, Parts Manager, and Production Supervisors.

Work Environment

This position operates in both office and hangar environments and includes exposure to:

  • Aircraft movement areas
  • Loud noise levels, chemicals, and machinery

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift to 75 pounds
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, standing, squatting, and climbing
  • Ability to work in physically demanding environments

Position Type & Hours

  • Full-time position. Exempt
  • May require evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability
  • Ability to work flexible and extended hours

Travel

  • Limited travel may be required

Education, Experience & Qualifications

Required

  • 3-5 years of experience in general aviation maintenance, planning, or scheduling
  • Experience with maintenance tracking software (e.g., Corridor)
  • Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations and maintenance practices
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business, or related field
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification
  • Experience in Part 91, 121, 135 and Part 145 operations
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to pass background check
  • Participation in DOT drug and alcohol testing program
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
