About the Role

Plus Power recruits outstanding energy industry professionals who are driven to develop, build and operate assets safely and reliably to decarbonize the power markets while growing their careers. Our team looks for data-driven and fact-based mindsets, engaging and collaborative behaviors, and personal growth-focused professionals.

We are looking for a Project Development Intern to support our Senior Project Manager in the TVA territory and the Southeast region (Georgia Power territory). This intern will gain hands-on experience in battery energy storage system (BESS) project development, supporting the full project lifecycle from opportunity identification through active construction. The scope of work will be dynamic and responsive to what is happening in the project pipeline at the time of the internship, offering a flexible and real-world learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Project Organization & Meeting Support

  • Assist the Senior Project Manager with note-taking during tranche calls, stakeholder meetings, and other project-related discussions; distribute organized meeting summaries to relevant parties
  • Help maintain and update the AMP (Asset Management Platform) to ensure accurate, current project data across all active developments
  • Participate in regional weekly meetings with all team members working on development projects and opportunities

Construction Tax Reporting

  • Track and log work required for continuous construction tax reporting; maintain organized records and flag upcoming deadlines or action items to the Senior Project Manager
  • Support coordination with other company departments (Finance, Legal, Operations) to gather accurate data and ensure compliance with construction tax documentation requirements

New Market Opportunity Research

  • Develop and contribute to a thesis on new BESS development opportunities in the TVA and Southeast regions
  • Research utility procurement trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape across the Southeast to identify actionable opportunities for Plus Power's regional pipeline
  • Provide research-backed solutions and recommendations that increase value to the project portfolio and support pipeline growth
    Development Operations Support
  • Develop a working understanding of renewable energy project development strategy and commitments, including financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and opportunities
  • Create and update Excel spreadsheets and Microsoft Access databases used to track project status, milestones, and KPIs
  • Support departmental integration and file organization in MS 365 SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Review and create presentation materials and process documentation for Development Operations
  • Support the advancement of performance objectives and assist the Development Department in tracking and summarizing OKR data

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work with the Senior Project Manager to develop a clear understanding of expectations and objectives, ensuring that information is clearly communicated to all parties
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with all parties involved in core business functions; collaborate effectively with Development teams to meet all organizational objectives
  • Connect with other company departments to gather accurate KPI data and link various cost and schedule datasets to the broader project information database
  • Uphold and exemplify a high standard of ethics, integrity, and the core values of the company
    Actively participate in development of self, others, and company-specified training or initiatives

Skills & Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate student with applicable work experience in Data Analysis, Business Operations/Administration, Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field **OR** current postgraduate student in an MBA, Energy Policy, or other business/technical program
  • Flexible, adaptable, dynamic, positive, and can-do attitude — comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities may shift with the project cycle
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving; ability to work independently once oriented
  • Ability to conduct web research and obtain technical, industry, and market reports
  • Experience with computer applications including Zoom, SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and Power BI
  • Interest in or prior exposure to battery energy storage systems (BESS), renewable energy, or power markets is a plus — no prior BESS knowledge is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to organize and clearly present notes and findings to senior stakeholders

Compensation, Location, and Benefits

Highly competitive total compensation from one of North America's leading energy storage developers, owners and operators. Flexible, work from home or hybrid work from Plus Power's offices in San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Seattle, New York, Palm Beach and Birmingham. 

The expected salary range* for this position begins at $20/hr. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant experience, skills, qualifications, geographic labor market, and other factors consistent with applicable law. This position is also eligible to participate in our annual bonus program.
