As a Turf Technician at Lowney?s Landscaping, you'll be the key to transforming customer properties, ensuring their lawns are lush, healthy, and weed-free. Your expertise in lawn care practices such as fertilization, pre-emergent and broadleaf weed control, core aeration, and slit/over-seeding will be instrumental in keeping properties in pristine condition throughout the growing season. Your passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces, coupled with a positive attitude and dedication to customer satisfaction, will be the foundation of your success in this role.

What you?ll be doing as a Turf Technician:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by actively listening to client needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Share expert turf knowledge and apply industry-leading techniques to ensure optimal lawn health and vibrant, weed-free lawns.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment by effectively working under time constraints set by the Manager, ensuring all tasks are completed promptly and efficiently.
  • Utilize tools and equipment with precision and care, ensuring each task is carried out with the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Make smart, weather-based decisions, adjusting your approach according to seasonal changes to guarantee the best results for each lawn.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with both team members and clients, ensuring smooth operations and client satisfaction at every step of the process.
  • Maintain a proactive attitude, anticipating customer needs and providing solutions before problems arise.
  • Collaborate with the team to share knowledge, improve processes, and achieve team and company goals together.

What you?ll bring to the table as a Turf Technician:

  • A valid driver?s license and a clean driving record
  • Valid WI Turf and Landscape Certification 3.0, with a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • At least one year of hands-on experience with Turf Applications, or a strong eagerness to learn and grow in the field
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle strenuous tasks throughout the workday
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic, with a passion for producing exceptional results and maintaining a high standard of work
  • Ability to walk long distances while carrying spreaders, ensuring efficient coverage of large areas
  • In-depth knowledge of turf care best practices, including expert understanding of weeds, diseases, insects, and other environmental factors impacting turf health
  • Comfort and resilience in working through varying weather conditions, ensuring top-quality results despite the elements
  • Possess, or be willing to obtain, the 5.0 Aquatic and Mosquito and 7.1 Structural ertifications to enhance your professional capabilities
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment efficiently, ensuring all tools are in excellent working order
  • A team-oriented mindset, willing to collaborate and share expertise to improve processes and achieve shared success

Physical Requirements:

  • Physical Stamina and Strength: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly throughout the workday and perform strenuous physical tasks such as carrying spreaders, equipment, and materials across large areas.
  • Endurance: Must be able to walk long distances on foot, sometimes over uneven terrain, while carrying heavy equipment, ensuring the efficient and effective treatment of large turf areas.
  • Flexibility and Mobility: Capable of bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching to apply treatments and perform turf care maintenance on all areas of the lawn.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to use a variety of tools and equipment safely and effectively, including spreaders, sprayers, and aeration tools, while maintaining a high standard of precision and quality.
  • Weather Resilience: Ability to work in varying weather conditions, from extreme heat to cold, and endure seasonal shifts without compromising job performance.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to maneuver and apply turf treatments in a precise manner, ensuring minimal waste and maximum coverage.
  • Mental Alertness: Ability to focus and remain sharp throughout long shifts, especially while making time-sensitive decisions regarding the lawn?s treatment and health.
  • Balance and Coordination: Able to safely and efficiently operate equipment, such as mowers and sprayers, in a variety of outdoor environments, ensuring safety and productivity.
  • Physical Agility: Ability to climb into and out of trucks and equipment and perform tasks that may require physical agility such as loading materials or adjusting machinery.
  • Health and Safety Conscious: Maintain awareness of safety procedures and ensure all physical tasks are carried out without risk to personal health or client property.
