Job Title: Glass Estimator
Location: On-site

About Our Client:

We have partnered with a commercial glazing subcontractor in full growth mode, looking to add an exceptional Estimator to their team. They specialize in aluminum storefronts, curtain walls, and glass systems, and are known for delivering high-quality projects across the Midwest. This is an exciting opportunity to join a company focused on craftsmanship, client satisfaction, and professional development within the glazing industry.

Position Overview:

The Estimator will lead the complete bidding and pre-construction process for aluminum and glazing projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Efco, YKK, Kawneer, and Tubelite systems, and be able to hit the ground running. This role combines technical expertise with relationship-building skills, ensuring projects are profitable while strengthening partnerships with general contractors and construction managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and evaluate bid opportunities through general contractors, construction managers, and other sources.
  • Review project plans, specifications, and addendums to prepare accurate and complete bids.
  • Develop proposals that balance competitive pricing with company profitability goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with construction managers and general contractors to increase bid opportunities.
  • Review awarded contracts to confirm alignment with original bids, scope, and project requirements; address discrepancies or risks before execution.
  • Prepare detailed shop drawings, material submittals, and product data in compliance with project specifications.
  • Coordinate submittal reviews, track approvals, and revise documents as needed.
  • Stay up to date with material lead times to ensure accurate fabrication and installation schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure smooth project transitions from bid to execution.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years estimating experience in aluminum and glazing.
  • Familiarity with Efco, YKK, Kawneer, and Tubelite systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficiency with glazing takeoff software (WinBidPro preferred), AutoCAD or similar drafting software, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple bids and projects simultaneously.
