Job Overview
Performs preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on complex mechanical production equipment and systems. Follows standard procedures to monitor equipment for performance, safety, and effectiveness. Troubleshoots, diagnoses and repairs equipment problems. Complete equipment modifications and relocations with direction from a project leader. Log equipment repairs, modification and maintenance details in the designated system.
Key Responsibilities
  • Always follow safety procedures, including lock out-tag out, confined space and fall protection.
  • Proficiency in many complex maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting mechanical issues, repairing equipment, and performing preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to operate all common types of tools and maintenance equipment such as welding machines, machining equipment, multimeters, and power tools.
  • Ability to operate medium to heavy duty equipment, including man and material lifts.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic systems, with the ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and take corrective actions to restore equipment to proper working condition. Replace or repair defective components, parts, or systems as needed. Collaborate with other maintenance staff and production operators to resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Document maintenance activities and communicate effectively with supervisors and other team members in operations and engineering.
  • Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision, managing time and resources effectively.
  • Mentor maintenance technician I, providing trade skill development.

Required Skills and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance.

  • Experience
    • 10+ years of experience as a maintenance mechanic, preferably as a journeyman mechanic
    • Ability to use all common types of hand and power tools
    • Ability to use common fabrication equipment and method such as saws, lathes, mills, and welders.
    • Troubleshooting complex manufacturing equipment with pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Required Skills
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair complex machinery.
  • Ability to coordinate resources, contractors, supplies and equipment for project execution
  • Ability to train and mentor others on maintenance skills and equipment
  • Ability to use a computer with basic proficiency (data entry).
