Job description

Job Summary
The Echo Sonographer performs a variety of routine echocardiograms including, but not limited to, Transthoracic Echocardiogram or TTE, with Color, Spectral Doppler and 2-D imaging, Transesophageal Echocardiogram TEE, Stress Echocardiogram or Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram, TTE with bubbles, TTE with contrast and advanced TTE such as TTE with 3D imaging, for both inpatient and outpatient studies. Locates, evaluates and records pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data while using different systems of ultrasound equipment. Transmits exams, processes preliminary technical data in designated interpreting system, and communicates any significant findings to the attending reading physician.

Education
Non-Registered Echo Tech
Required
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Active credential or license in a health-related field.
    • Allied Health educations include, but are not limited to, diagnostic medical sonographer, radiologic technologist, respiratory therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, and registered nurse

Registered Echo Tech
Required
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • ARDMS or CCI Credential as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Experience:
Non-Registered Echo Tech
  • Preferred
    • Two or more years of experience as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Registered Echo Tech
  • Preferred
    • Two or more years of experience as a Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer

Certification/Licensure:
Non-Registered Echo Tech
  • Required
    • Must hold an active credential or license in a health-related field
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
      • Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
