Job Responsibilities
The Diesel Mechanic Program Coordinator position will work under minimal instruction/supervision within the guidelines established by the Dean of Manufacturing and Maintenance. The coordinator's duties will include program development, teaching courses, designing and developing curriculum, providing a systematic plan for delivering instruction, evaluating student performance, advising students and mentoring instructors. Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements, all required documentation, budgeting requirements and administrative reports. Also, assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
This position requires a bachelor's degree or an associate degree in diesel mechanics or automotive technology or a related field. ASE master diesel or automobile technician certification must be submitted with the application. A minimum of two (2) years of work experience is also required and a valid South Carolina Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years teaching experience in diesel or automotive technology is preferred. Documented industry/teaching experience to include evidence of experience with current technology within the last three (3) years. Preference will also be given to candidates with documented automatic transmission experience and/or engine management and engine repair expertise. Candidate must have excellent computer skills and knowledge of software applications. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential.
