  • Determine the severity of patient symptoms across all age groups, directing callers to appropriate emergency services when critical, or recommending standard medical follow-up and health education based on triage protocols.
  • Coordinate medication refills with providers and pharmacies, and assist with patient referrals to physicians, specialists, and ancillary services.
  • Provide occasional in-person triage and patient navigation assistance in the clinic lobby when needed.
  • Support clinic medical assistants with clinical guidance and oversight during busy operational windows.
  • Assist in the development, review, and documentation of formal clinical protocols related to triage job functions.
  • Maintain absolute patient confidentiality at all times and document all assessments, recommendations, and patient interactions meticulously within the electronic record.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
  • Current, unrestricted State of Kansas licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) required
  • Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within the first 30 days of employment)
  • Previous experience in nursing required; prior experience in public health, outpatient primary care, or critical care environments is highly preferred
  • Ability to handle stressful, potentially distressing calls or interactions with angry, upset, or ill individuals with high socio-economic and cultural sensitivity
  • Strong technical and computer skills, with a thorough knowledge of modern office practices and computerized health systems
Benefits:
  • Predictable Monday through Friday schedule with no evenings, overnights, or weekend requirements
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) program starting at 15 days annually and increasing with years of service
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance packages
  • Robust retirement planning
  • Employer-provided short-term and long-term disability insurance coverage
  • Flexible cafeteria plan options for additional customized benefits

Note on Compensation: The listed compensation range represents the full scale from a market-adjusted starting point to the maximum experience tier. The final determined rate will be based on a candidate's verified years of nursing service, qualifications, and alignment with the organization's non-profit structure.
