The Lab Services provides services related to lab tests, including specimen collection of the patients, and accessioning, lab tests performed on specimens, recording of lab test results, delivery of lab test results and more.

Medical Lab Technician (MLT) Details

Essential Job Duties:

  • Perform and report laboratory tests: Perform and report results of waived and moderate complexity laboratory tests using automated, semi-automated, and manual test systems and kits.
  • Prepare and transport specimens: Prepare specimens for in-house testing and for referral to reference laboratories. This includes verification of specimen ID and labeling, centrifugation, pour off, storage, routing to other clinic laboratory locations, and packaging and shipping for transport to reference laboratories.
  • Maintain quality control and assurance: Perform and maintain records of quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) according to established Laboratory policy and procedures.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies: Prepare and calibrate instruments and equipment to assure accuracy of tests. Clean and performs periodic maintenance on instruments and equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines and laboratory policies. Assist Manager in maintaining an adequate volume of supplies on-hand and available to ensure uninterrupted collection and testing of patient specimens.
  • Provide patient care and support: Collect patient blood specimens and other specimen types. Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to enter and record patient demographics, specimen collection and receipt, process specimens, order tests, print labels and forms. perform testing, enter results, generate reports and transmit results as indicated or directed.

Qualifications:

a- Bachelor's or Associate degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution; or High School graduate or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures of at least 50 weeks duration and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (laboratory technician)

a- ASCP, AMT, or NCA certification or eligibility preferred. Must meet CLIA 1988 requirements for testing personnel performing moderately complex testing.
