Must hold or be eligible for a full, unrestricted Florida Medical License or foreign equivalent required. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a full un-restricted FL Medical License, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. The candidate will participate in the teaching of residents, fellows, and medical students in clinical medicine.
Candidates must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor, Asssociate Professor, Professor.
Responsible (with authority) for all aspects of the Trauma Program at the Facility, to include trauma call panel privileges, treatment protocols and guidelines, service polices, education community outreach, hospital executive interface, and performance improvement; promotes multidisciplinary approach to care of injured, critically ill, and emergency surgical patients; leads trauma education at facility.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a state university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.
Certified (or eligible for certification according to current requirements) by the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery in Surgery, with Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care. Current as an Advances Trauma Life Support Instructor. Demonstrated proficiency in the field of trauma surgery, surgical critical care, and emergency general surgery. Demonstrated competency in administration, finance, and community relations. Demonstrated commitment to teaching health care professional students, residents, and practicing clinicians.
