Position Summary:
The Director of the Magnet Program is responsible for leading, coordinating, and advancing the organization's journey toward initial Magnet designation and/or redesignation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). This role provides strategic leadership to ensure alignment with Magnet standards, promotes nursing excellence, and fosters a culture of professional practice, innovation, and continuous improvement across the organization.
The Director works collaboratively with nursing leadership, interprofessional teams, and frontline staff to drive outcomes that demonstrate excellence in nursing practice, patient care, and workforce engagement.

Qualifications
Education
- Master's degree in nursing (MSN) required
- Doctoral degree (DNP, PhD, or equivalent) preferred
Licensure & Certification
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Nursing specialty certification required
- ANCC Magnet Program Director certification (preferred or obtained within designated timeframe)
Experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive nursing leadership experience
- Demonstrated experience with Magnet designation or redesignation preferred

What the Director - Magnet Program will do:
Magnet Program Leadership
- Lead the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of the Magnet program.
- Serve as the organizational expert on ANCC Magnet standards, requirements, and updates.
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve and sustain Magnet designation and redesignation.
- Coordinate document submission, site visit preparation, and ongoing compliance with Magnet expectations.
Strategic Oversight & Nursing Excellence
- Align Magnet initiatives with organizational priorities, strategic goals, and quality outcomes.
- Promote a professional practice environment that supports shared governance, evidence-based practice, and nursing autonomy.
- Ensure integration of Magnet principles into daily operations and leadership practices.
Performance Improvement & Outcomes
- Collaborate with quality, safety, and clinical leaders to monitor nursing-sensitive indicators.
- Drive initiatives that improve patient outcomes, nurse satisfaction, and workforce engagement.
- Analyze data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation.
Staff Engagement & Education
- Develop and lead education programs to increase understanding and engagement in Magnet principles across all levels of nursing staff.
- Mentor and coach leaders and staff in the development of exemplars and evidence supporting Magnet standards.
- Promote professional development, certification, and academic advancement among nursing staff.
