The Role
The Transportation Safety Supervisor is responsible for supporting and advancing a culture of safety throughout the operation while ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, client, and company requirements. This role oversees day-to-day safety activities, driver training and coaching initiatives, regulatory compliance programs, and accident prevention efforts. The Transportation Safety Supervisor partners closely with Operations leadership to improve safety performance, reduce risk, and ensure drivers are equipped to operate safely and professionally. This position serves as a key resource for field leadership and drivers on transportation safety and regulatory matters.
Role is eligible to be based in multiple locations in the San Francisco Bay area including San Jose, South San Francisco, Burlingame and Fremont.
Responsibilities
  • Promote and reinforce a Behavioral Based Safety culture focused on reducing accidents, injuries, and safety-related incidents.
  • Supervise daily safety and compliance activities across assigned operations.
  • Ensure driver qualification files, licensing records, medical certifications, and compliance documentation are maintained in accordance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, and implement corrective action plans as needed.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety concerns, identify root causes, and recommend preventative measures.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and prepare reports, trend analyses, and recommendations for operational leadership.
  • Administer onboard safety technology programs, including DriveCam, Samsara, SmartDrive, and other monitoring systems.
  • Review safety events and partner with Operations leadership to provide coaching and corrective action when necessary.
  • Deliver and coordinate driver training, safety meetings, new hire orientation, and ongoing compliance education.
  • Conduct driver evaluations, road tests, and behind-the-wheel assessments.
  • Support internal, client, DOT, and regulatory audits.
  • Partner with Operations Managers and Site Supervisors to ensure consistent application of safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs, initiatives, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and support to field leaders regarding transportation safety, compliance, and accident prevention.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in passenger transportation, fleet operations, safety, compliance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of supervisory, lead, or transportation safety experience.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and training skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and safety management systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and identify trends to drive safety improvements.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends as operational needs require.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
