Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Overhead Transmission Manager to lead a growing team of engineers and designers supporting high voltage transmission and distribution projects across the country. This role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and strategic team development for overhead line projects ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV in both traditional engineering design and EPC environments. As the Overhead Transmission Manager, you will guide the full lifecycle of transmission line projects-from conceptual routing and structure selection through detailed design, quality review, and construction support. You'll oversee multidisciplinary coordination, ensure technical excellence, and help drive consistent, efficient project execution.

Location
This position is based out of Raleigh, NC.
Responsibilities
• Lead and mentor a team of transmission engineers and designers working on overhead line projects.
• Oversee development of conceptual designs, including routing studies, structure type evaluation, conductor selection, and constructability assessments.
• Review and approve detailed design deliverables such as
o Plan & profile drawings
o Structure loading and design packages
o Hardware and conductor specifications
o Foundation load requirements
o Bills of material and construction work packages
• Ensure effective use of industry standard tools such as PLS CADD, PLS Pole/Tower, and SAG10.
• Manage project schedules, staffing plans, and resource allocation to meet client and project requirements.
• Identify and mitigate technical, schedule, and construction risks to support safe and efficient project delivery.
• Coordinate closely with substation, civil, structural, environmental, and construction teams to ensure integrated solutions.
• Provide engineering support during procurement and construction, including responding to RFIs and resolving field issues.
• Contribute to team growth by developing standards, improving processes, and mentoring junior staff.
• Manage schedule and budget

• Interface with other Kiewit operating districts
• Interface with construction project leadership
• Visit construction sites, meet in client offices, and travel out of town to tour supplier facilities as required by projects and assignments.
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited University
• At least ten years' experience performing overhead transmission engineering-related duties
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Proficient in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE; PLS TOWER experience preferred
• Knowledge of MFAD, LPILE, and geotechnical recommendation application for foundation design preferred
• Knowledge of client and industry standards including NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS
• Experience leading teams and projects
• Experience managing direct reports including approving timesheets, performance appraisals, and resource planning preferred
• Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative
• Strong work ethic, willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
• Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
• Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
