Since 1970, Hale Kipa has championed Hawai'i's youth and children. We provide youth outreach, independent living facilities, therapeutic foster care, a haven for runaways, and more. Our founders recognized a need for a nonprofit to step in to assist this deserving population and we are still doing that critical work today, on O'ahu, Kaua'i, and the Island of Hawai'i. Role Overview

Transitional Living & Housing Stabilization is a program for Young Adults (ages 18-24) provides safe housing and supportive services for young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability in West Hawai'i. The program emphasizes stabilization, life skills development, education and employment readiness, and housing transition using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approaches ground in aloha, malama, and kuleana.

The Program Manager is responsible for the overall management, operation, and success of the Transitional Living & Housing Stabilization Shelter. This position provides leadership to staff, ensures compliance with licensing and contract requirements, oversees program operations, and supports young adults in achieving stability and independent living goals. The Program Manager services as the primary point of accountability for program quality, safety, and outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in related field required.
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in homeless services, transitional housing, residential programs, or related fields required.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and strengths-based practices required.
  • Ability to respond effectively to crisis situations required.
  • Experience working with transition-age youth (18โ€“24) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hawai'i DHS, HUD, or county-funded programs preferred.
  • Familiarity with HMIS or similar data systems preferred.
  • Cultural competence and experience serving Native Hawaiian and local communities preferred.
