What Is a Transaction Manager?
A transaction manager oversees each phase of real estate transactions for a company, from application to closing. The qualifications for a career as a transaction manager include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a similar field. You also need experience in the real estate industry. Strong organizational and leadership skills are a must. As a transaction manager, your job duties include handling legal and financial matters, monitoring liabilities, coordinating leases, subleases, and purchases, finding real estate opportunities that align with company goals, and utilizing resources to negotiate the best deals for your company.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Transaction Manager, and why are they important?
How does a Transaction Manager typically collaborate with other departments during a deal process?
What is the difference between Transaction Manager vs Loan Officer?
| Aspect | Transaction Manager | Loan Officer |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Typically a bachelor's degree; certifications like Certified Transaction Coordinator (CTC) are common | Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or related field; licenses such as NMLS are required |
| Work Environment | Real estate agencies, title companies, or transaction coordination firms | Banks, credit unions, mortgage companies |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Real estate and property management sectors | Financial services and mortgage lending |
| Common Search & Comparison Intent | Understanding roles in real estate transactions | Understanding mortgage and loan processing roles |
The main difference is that a Transaction Manager oversees the coordination of real estate transactions, ensuring all documents and deadlines are met, often within real estate or title companies. A Loan Officer, on the other hand, evaluates and approves loan applications for borrowers seeking financing. While both roles require knowledge of real estate and finance, their focus areas and work environments differ significantly.

This role will partner closely with business leaders to structure, assess, and manage legal risk in support of strategic initiatives and vendor relationships. This position requires a pragmatic, business-oriented attorney who thrives in a fast-paced, growth environment and can balance legal rigor with practical decision-making.

Concora Credit is guided by a single purpose: to help non-prime customers do more with credit. Today, we have helped millions of customers access credit. Our industry leadership, resilience, and willingness to adapt ensure we can help our partners responsibly say yes to millions more. As a company grounded in entrepreneurship, we're looking to expand our team and are looking for people who foster innovation, strive to make an impact, and want to Do More! We're an established company with over 20 years of experience, but now we're taking things to the next level. We're seeking someone who wants to impact the business and play a pivotal role in leading the charge for change.
ResponsibilitiesAs our Vice President, Transaction & Contract Attorney, you will:
- Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of B2B agreements across the organization, including vendor contracts, partner agreements, amendments, servicing, and other commercial arrangements.
- Establish and maintain standard contract templates, playbooks, and negotiation guidelines.
- Provide legal support for strategic transactions, partnerships, and new business initiatives.
- Structure transactions while appropriately balancing risk, compliance, and business objectives.
- Identify legal and, in consultation with others, regulatory risks in contractual arrangements and develop mitigation strategies.
- Advise internal stakeholders on risk tolerance and alternative approaches.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, IT, Compliance, Procurement, and executive leadership.
- Translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
- Design and implement scalable contracting processes, including workflow tools and approval frameworks.
- Drive efficiencies in contract lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with outside counsel as needed for specialized matters.
- Ensure cost-effective delivery of legal services.
- Ensure agreements comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
These duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
We know experience comes in many forms and that many skills are transferable. If your experience is close to what we're looking for, consider applying. Diversity has made us the entrepreneurial and innovative company that we are today.
QualificationsRequirements:
- At least 5-10 years of experience practicing in a law firm or in-house, with a strong focus on commercial contracts and transactions. Experience with a credit card issuer preferred.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution.
- A general understanding of banking regulations, consumer finance and protection laws, and related rules and regulations, including Truth-in-Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Military Lending Act, UDAAP, state credit card laws, GLBA/Reg P, and other laws applicable to a credit card business, preferred.
- A general understanding of Delaware Corporate law is preferred.
- Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements and contracts with vendors, business partners, and third-party providers.
- Makes sound and quick decisions; able to move quickly and "read and react" in real time, successfully balancing business and legal priorities.
- Superior communication skills, including clear written, verbal, and presentation skills for a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Deep history of delivering results.
- Ability to "zoom in and zoom out" as needed - the willingness and ability to operate both strategically and, at times, more operationally.
- Curiosity and willingness to ask questions.
- Position is in Portland, OR.
What's In It For You:
- Medical, Dental and Vision insurance for you and your family
- Relax and recharge with Paid Time Off (PTO)
- 6 company-observed paid holidays, plus 3 paid floating holidays
- 401k (after 90 days) plus employer match up to 4%

- We invest in your future through Tuition Reimbursement
- Save on taxes with Flexible Spending Accounts
- Peace of mind with Life and AD&D Insurance
- Protect yourself with company-paid Long-Term Disability and voluntary Short-Term Disability
