Job Description
Provides high quality sports medicine services to athletes in the outreach setting to professional sports teams or professional sports clubs. Performs duties needed for business operations, coverages, documentation, international/national/regional travel, and responsibilities as appointed by the sports medicine management team. Functions effectively as a member of the sports medicine team, supporting Children's Healthcare of Atlanta mission. Proactively supports efforts that ensure delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
Experience
  • 1 year of work experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree Preferred
  • Experience working in the collegiate or professional settings.

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or entry level degree from an Athletic Training Accredited institution.

Certification Summary
  • Certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainers
  • Georgia State License or Eligible
  • CPR Certified

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Adhere to the National Athletic Trainers Association best practices and Georgia State laws of practice related to athletic Training.
  • Clinical Competences in treatment aspects of sports medicine athletes and patients.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of training specific to the sport.
  • Willing to work a flexible work schedule including nights and weekends preforming a variety of work related tasks as needed.
  • Good mental health and physical health.
  • The ability to work autonomously and make sound decisions while working at off-site practices, matches, tournaments or international travel.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and instruct athletes on injury prevention and rehabilitation programs with any multidisciplinary model for the professional organization.
  • Responsible for the overall prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and daily healthcare of sign professional or club athletes.
  • Responsible for clinical competency and the provision of effective service delivery appropriate to patient's specific needs and diagnosis.
  • Provide education and updates to staff parents and patients in an ongoing fashion via text, phone call or email.
  • Completes and submits daily charge sheets for each patient with appropriate content.
  • Organize pre-participation physicals and compliance with professional organizations or leagues adhering to their specific requirements.
  • Responsible for various tasks needed for management of business operations including coordinating appointments for athletes with other healthcare professionals, ordering daily treatment room supplies, assisting with planning/ordering of new equipment, daily equipment cleaning duties, medical records, travel and logistic duties, organizing and preparing for travel for regional, national, international matches.
  • Effectively communicates and collaborates with professional sports staff/team members.
  • Responsible for independent time management to ensure completion of all direct and independent patient care and department responsibilities.
  • Responsible for continuous professional growth and improvement to industry standards, maintain the required continuing education hours for the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers and the state of Georgia.
  • Deliver competent age-appropriate patient care, integrating infections control, mental health, body substance precautions, patient's safety, body mechanics and knowledge of growth and development.
  • Identifies patient/family needs for services from axillary departments and provides follow-up and referrals as necessary.
  • Responsible for making decisions quickly and accurately in an emergency situation via an annual review and implementation of an emergency action plans. This will include but not limited to emergency preparedness for matches practice and the facility considering the use of restrictive tourniquets, environmental emergencies, concussion management, and mental health emergency.
  • Participates in maintaining and monitoring the work environment to ensure a continual state of Joint Commission readiness.
