Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Trimble Operator to support our mechanical field layout team.The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience, proficiency with Trimble Field Link, and a demonstrated ability to maintain layout accuracy within 1/8" across complex job sites. This role involves precise layout of sleeves, inserts, hangers, and other mechanical components based on coordinated models and construction documents.

Core Responsibilities

  • Operate Trimble Total Station equipment on mechanical construction sites.
  • Perform precise layout of pipe sleeves, hangers, supports, anchors, concrete inserts, equipment pads, and block-outs.
  • Maintain and verify 1/8" layout accuracy throughout all project phases.
  • Use Trimble Field Link and/or Trimble Access to perform layout from CAD and BIM models.
  • Read and interpret mechanical shop drawings, coordination models, and layout documents.
  • Set and verify control points and layout benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with mechanical foremen, BIM/VDC teams, and general contractors.
  • Document and track all layout activities daily.Maintain Trimble equipment in clean, calibrated, and working condition.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies related to mechanical systems.

Required Background

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical layout experience using robotic total stations.
  • Proficient in Trimble Field Link and/or Trimble Access.
  • Proven ability to maintain ±1/8" accuracy across large or complex job sites.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems (plumbing and HVAC).
  • Experience reading Revit, Navisworks, and AutoCAD-based layouts.
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-focused.
  • Strong communication and field coordination skills.
  • Valid drivers license and dependable transportation.
  • Must be able to fulfill the essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and a safe manner.
