Job description

Extended Operations Coordinator

We are looking for customer and employee support during the weekend. Our long weekend shift enables you to work with every system, customer, and first shift personnel to enhance your knowledge of the intricate work process within each division. Drivers rely on experts to help them through situations such as accidents, hours of service questions, breakdowns, all emergency situations and sometimes finding a trailer. This is a critical role to enhance a drivers experience while on the road and ensuring customer expectations are being met. We are looking for a part- time employee working:  

Friday: 1500-2000 (3:00pm-8:00pm) 5 hours  

Saturday: 0600-1800 (6:00am-6:00pm) 11 hours with an hour lunch 

Sunday 0600-1800 ( 6:00am-6:00pm)11 hours with an hour lunch  

Monday 1500-2100 (3:00pm-9:00pm) 6 hours 

33 hours per week with the opportunity for more hours while covering for other shifts.

Essential Functions/Specific Responsibilities of the Weekend Operations Coordinator:  

  • Audit satellite communication system for incoming messages and respond in a timely manner. 
  • Dispatch freight as applicable, develop a working knowledge of our various fleets. 
  • Provide assistance to all drivers after hours with comcheck issues, safety concerns, and Elogs through Platform Science and over the phone. 
  • Monitor driver progress and loads to ensure on time delivery and to be proactive in load saving when necessary. 
  • Help drivers during emergency situations and involve appropriate personal based on the severity of the issue. 
  • Understand the various maintenance facilities we utilize to get the driver back up and running in a break down situation. 
  • Source drivers when someone calls in sick, etc. when needed contact the appropriate first person. 
  • Effective communication via hand offs, emails, and phone calls about issues that arise after hours and on the weekends to the appropriate 1st shift person or team. 
  • Coach drivers on performance issues to include trip planning, service exceptions, company policy, and communicating effectively. 
  • Projects by request by your manager. 

 What skills do you need to bring?

  • Proficient in Microsoft products – Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Transportation background is preferred, but not required
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Can manage fast-paced environment
