Job description

Oncology Sales Education and Development Manager

We are seeking a proactive, highly organized and innovative Sales Education and Development Manager, Diagnostics, Oncology to strategically lead and elevate our Oncology sales education programs for both new hires and experienced sales professionals. This role will focus on the following key areas:

  • Collaboration with key stakeholders to design, update, and refine training curricula and materials, ensuring alignment with evolving business objectives and market demands

  • Delivery of comprehensive onboarding programs for new Oncology sales representatives and development of ongoing learning plans to support the continuous professional growth of the entire sales force

  • Partnership with cross-functional teams to plan, coordinate, and facilitate national and regional sales meetings, including agenda development, content creation, and hands-on skill-building sessions

  • Oversight of the Field Sales Training (FST) program, including the selection, development, and coaching of trainers to maximize training effectiveness and sales performance

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Sales Education team, Director of Sales Education, Sales Leadership, Marketing, and Medical & Scientific Affairs to ensure a deep understanding of clinical requirements, market dynamics, and product launch strategies relevant to Oncology offerings

  • Utilize evaluation data, performance metrics, and direct feedback from field representatives and leadership to identify learning gaps in product knowledge, business acumen, and sales competencies

  • Design and update innovative training curricula and materials, applying adult learning principles to effectively address evolving business objectives and learner needs

  • Oversee all logistics for in-person training sessions, including hotel accommodations, catering, reservations, and preparation of training materials, ensuring seamless program execution

  • Deliver impactful onboarding and ongoing development programs for new hires and established sales representatives, adapting content as needed to address territory growth and identified knowledge gaps

  • Provide actionable feedback to Regional Sales Managers and Sales Leadership to promote continuous performance improvement and field success

  • Conduct field visits with both new and tenured sales representatives to deliver coaching, gather actionable insights, and reinforce training initiatives

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop agendas and design engaging content, including skills practice sessions for national and regional sales meetings

  • Lead training sessions at sales meetings, ensuring high levels of engagement and knowledge transfer

  • Manage the annual selection, onboarding, and ongoing development of Field Sales Trainers (FSTs), scheduling regular meetings to facilitate business updates and gather field feedback

  • Partner with Regulatory Affairs, Legal, and other relevant departments to ensure all training content remains compliant with company policies and includes all mandatory topics

  • Oversee relationships with sales education vendors, identifying and onboarding new partners as necessary to address emerging training needs

  • Stay current with industry trends and competitive intelligence, actively participating in professional development, networking, and relevant conferences to evolve the sales education program

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in sales training, ideally within Oncology diagnostics, or hands-on expertise as a Field Sales Trainer or in a comparable capacity is strongly desired

  • Demonstrated success as a sales representative within the Oncology diagnostics sector, with in-depth knowledge of the Oncology marketplace highly preferred

  • Exceptional facilitation and presentation abilities, complemented by advanced written communication skills, enabling delivery of dynamic and engaging training sessions

  • Solid understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theory, with practical application in training program development considered an asset

  • Outstanding organizational skills, ensuring effective management and preparation of educational programs and training initiatives

  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work seamlessly across functions to define objectives, develop strategies, and implement actionable plans

  • Advanced project management capabilities, excelling at balancing multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining adaptability in a fast-paced, evolving environment

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Life sciences, business, and/or education focus preferred

Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in sales and/or in a sales education/adult learning environment

  • Three to five years of proven sales success in medical sales preferred

Additional Detail

  • Remote position or if office-based, San Diego

  • Up to 50% travel for in-person trainings, company meetings, and field rides

The total compensation range for this role is $115,600 to $192,700. This is based on a base salary and commission plan combination. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on factors including relevant experience, skillset, knowledge, territory/ geography, education, business needs, market demand and performance versus quota.
