South Asheville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty (SAVES) is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician Supervisor to lead our Specialty Services team in Asheville, NC. This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician who is passionate about mentorship, team development, and delivering exceptional specialty patient care. As a Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you'll combine hands-on clinical expertise with leadership to support a collaborative team while helping drive operational excellence in a fast-paced specialty hospital.Pay & Benefits

Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead and support the Specialty Services team by fostering a professional, collaborative, and positive work environment.
  • Promote accountability while maintaining high standards of patient care and client service.
  • Coach team members through challenges while encouraging teamwork and professional growth.
  • Assist with conflict resolution and ensure hospital policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Team Management
  • Oversee daily workflow and assign responsibilities to ensure efficient patient care.
  • Coordinate staffing coverage and assist with schedule management.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, performance evaluations, and development discussions.
  • Support employee engagement and encourage continuous learning.
Clinical & Technical Support
  • Provide hands-on Veterinary Technician support for specialty patients as needed.
  • Assist specialists and Veterinary Technicians with advanced procedures and patient care.
  • Help implement new medical protocols, workflows, and best practices.
  • Maintain high standards of nursing care and patient safety.
Training & Development
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Veterinary Technicians and support staff.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and competency programs.
  • Encourage continuing education and ongoing professional development.
  • Mentor Veterinary Technicians as they build advanced specialty nursing skills.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Facilitate communication between specialists, Veterinary Technicians, Client Service Representatives, and hospital leadership.
  • Lead departmental meetings and communicate operational updates.
  • Partner with other department supervisors to promote efficient hospital operations and exceptional patient care.
Operational Support
  • Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support hospital quality initiatives and workflow improvements.
  • Assist with maintaining department organization, equipment, and cleanliness.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
Qualifications
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT, CVT, or LVT) required
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership, lead technician, or supervisory experience required
  • Specialty or advanced clinical experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced specialty environment
  • Positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Experience with EzyVet and SmartFlow preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills are a plus
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
