Job Summary
The Engagement Program Administrator will support administrative activities within the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research (PICR) and its Office of Academic Programs and Career Success (OAPCS). The position will work with the OAPCS team to develop and execute new and existing initiatives, partnerships, policies, and programs. A focus of this position is on engagement with Purdue students (undergraduate through graduate levels) and potential Purdue students across the training continuum with the goal of recruiting these students into cancer research careers. Another focus is to engage with various on-campus and off-campus groups and communities to communicate the mission and vision of the institute and establish new partnerships and collaborations.
The primary responsibilities will be to support the PICR and the OAPCS team in recruitment efforts and development and implementation of programs to support the PICR mission and to engage Purdue students and trainees in cancer research. The Engagement Program Administrator will lead development and distribution of program materials, monitor progress and success of programs, communicate effectively with the team, identify and develop proposed solutions when roadblocks exist, and conduct daily operational work to ensure that the overall project goals and deliverables are met. Excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to produce high-quality work within a collaborative team are critical to this full-time position. The incumbent will report to the Associate Director for Engagement and will work independently in performing daily responsibilities as described below.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Work with the PICR OAPCS to implement and execute programs and achieve goals described in the PICR Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG)
  • Develop and implement, in coordination with PICR leadership, initiatives to recruit students to Purdue and engage enrolled students in cancer research opportunities.
  • Partner with the CRTEC Program Administrator to develop, coordinate, and integrate student recruitment, outreach, and engagement with cancer research education and training programs, fostering a comprehensive pathway for student success in cancer research.
  • Identify and attend local and national strategic recruitment opportunities to engage with students to recruit them to Purdue to conduct cancer research.
  • Support the PICR undergraduate and trainee organizations in engagement activities.
  • Work with project management database(s) to provide data, and work with the PICR team(s) in developing and upgrading the database to ensure maximum effectiveness for regular tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in the analysis of data related to various activities.
  • Track progress of assigned projects and activities toward meeting various milestones. Analyze data and prepare related reports as needed.
  • Participate in the strategic planning and goals of the PICR
  • Attend meetings, monitor activities to ensure objectives have been met within designated time frame, and coordinate follow-up activities.
  • Serve as a liaison for the PICR and engage with Purdue departments, funding sources, affiliated individuals or institutions, and organizations external to Purdue.
  • Develop materials which may include surveys, reports, and educational materials. Develop, review, edit and revise administrative materials.
  • Stay abreast of news topics and trends related to higher education, cancer, popular culture or other subject matters that may be reflected or referenced in communications.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Director by providing content and information for website updates, social media posts, and other marketing communications.
  • Coordinate grant/contract application and renewal process, writing portions of grants/contracts as needed/required.
  • Support in identification of additional funding opportunities.

What We're Looking For:
  • BA/BS in a related field
  • Two or more years of experience in project coordination, engagement and outreach activities
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently and creating and taking initiatives in a dynamic environment
  • Strong experience working in a collaborative environment and building cross-functional partnerships
  • Strong communication skills, knowledge of basic data analysis, facilitation skills, social media skills
  • High level of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • High level knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to communicate the mission and vision of an organization like the PICR with students and community partners aross multiple educational levels
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
  • Adaptable with ability to improvise and/or learn new areas without formal or specific training

What Is Helpful:
  • Master's degree
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint, Website content management software, and/or ability to utilize AI software tools
