Job description

Title: Maintenance and Reliability Manager

Job Description
  • Develop and execute the overall maintenance and reliability strategy for all production equipment, facilities, and utility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Lead maintenance, planning/scheduling, reliability, facilities, and utility functions to maximize equipment availability and plant performance.
  • Develop and execute preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime, asset life, and OEE.
  • Establish and manage a reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) approach including failure analysis, equipment criticality assessments, and preventive maintenance optimization.
  • Develop and execute spare parts management and storeroom strategies to ensure equipment reliability while optimizing inventory investment.
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and corrective action programs for chronic equipment losses.
  • Lead maintenance personnel, supervisors, and skilled trades contractors through hiring, training, performance management, succession planning, and workforce development.
  • Establish maintenance and reliability budgets while effectively managing labor, parts, contractor, and capital expenditures.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Safety, and Supply Chain to improve plant performance and achieve business objectives.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, maintenance productivity, asset utilization, and cost reduction.
  • Oversee CMMS utilization, maintenance planning and scheduling, backlog management, work execution, and maintenance performance reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, food safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead capital projects, equipment installations, commissioning, startup support, and lifecycle asset management activities.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, proactive maintenance, reliability excellence, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of progressive maintenance and reliability experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing maintenance supervisors, planners, reliability personnel, and skilled trades employees.
  • Demonstrated success improving equipment reliability, asset utilization, uptime, and OEE
  • Experience leading root cause analysis (RCA), FMEA, Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM), and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, maintenance planning and scheduling, work management, and asset lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to develop PM programs, optimize maintenance strategies, and improve maintenance workforce productivity.
  • Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital projects, spare parts inventories, and contractor relationships.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, environmental, food safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build high-performing teams and drive accountability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, maintenance analytics, KPI reporting, and data-driven decision making.
  • Willingness to support off-shift operations and respond to critical plant issues as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food, beverage, packaging, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing.
  • Experience implementing or utilizing Theory of Constraints, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Reliability Excellence, or World Class Manufacturing programs.
  • Experience with automated packaging systems, PLCs, controls, VFDs, robotics, vision systems, and industrial utility systems.
