CNC Process Engineer- Manufacturing

Principal Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Process Engineer to join our team in Broadview, IL. As a leader in fineblanking, conventional stamping and plastic injection molding, Principal Manufacturing sets itself above the competition.

Plan, design, develop CNC manufacturing process for current and future components production as well as production of tooling

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs processes and equipment related to the manufacturing of products or services that are cost effective at approved levels of quality and within quoted specifications.
  • Implement process designs, creating prototypes, testing, making necessary modifications where required.
  • Assesses safety requirements and ensuring that these are integrated into the process.
  • Works closely with other professionals on development and research projects.
  • Integrates new technology or environmentally friendly practices into existing processes.
  • Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of new developments in field.
  • Develops and conducts training programs on the safe operations of the equipment, and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers.
  • Negotiates price, terms, and conditions with outside suppliers used to meet project needs.
  • Develop models of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components and recommend implementation of improved procedures.
  • Provides detailed documentation of a job including tool and fixture drawings, definition of setup, and operational procedures.

Required Skill/Knowledge:

A solid foundation in engineering concepts is a vital Process Engineer requirement.

Knowledge of the product or services and the industry in which he/she is operating.

Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) principles.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as keen attention to detail are also essential Process Engineer skills.

Project management, leadership and teamwork skills are important to ensure that all factors come together to complete a given assignment on time.

Experience requirements vary according to job requirements and industry. Certifications may include Professional Engineer Licence (P.Eng), Certified Professional Engineer (PE), Six Sigma qualifications and Project Management Professional (PMP).

Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus

Proficient with AutoCad or similar programs

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Displays original thinking and creativity; Meets challenges with resourcefulness; Generates suggestions for improving work; Develops innovative approaches and ideas; Presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention.

Education Level / Required Certification:

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related science field.
