Job description

Press Operator or Trainee-$1,500 Hiring Bonus

 

The Grand Island Independent is hiring a full-time press operator to join our team to operate the printing press to publish the Grand Island Independent and numerous other Nebraska and Midwest regional newspapers and commercial print jobs due to expansion.

This position works in the team to produce print products according to customer specifications and within deadlines.  Duties include loading newsprint, making pasters, monitoring reel stands, setting ink densities, registration, filling ink fountains, setting folders, plate making, maintaining a safe and clean press area and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will be 18 years of age or older, able to lift up to 50 lbs., be able to distinguish colors, possess mechanical aptitude and have the ability to work night shifts as needed. The ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure is required. Previous printing press experience and/or manufacturing experience is preferred.  We will train those who show aptitude.
