Job description

About the Role

The primary purpose of the Shift Supervisor Pathology position is to be in immediate charge of the Clinical Laboratory when on duty and represents the laboratory in dealing with other units in the hospital under the supervision of the Administrative Director Pathology & Laboratory Medicine. Assures continuity of laboratory operations on the evening, night, weekend shifts as scheduled.


What You’ll Do  

  • Provide patient-centered service by creating a welcoming environment, communicating clearly, resolving complaints promptly, and modeling service excellence.
  • Oversee daily Clinical Laboratory operations, enforce personnel policies, and ensure quality control procedures are completed and documented.
  • Communicate effectively across shifts, prepare comprehensive reports, and respond to operational problems, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Monitor supply levels, coordinate downtime activities, and perform bench work as required based on competency.
  • Train and orient new staff, students, residents, and other trainees during evening or night shifts.
  • Stay current with laboratory procedures, safety protocols, LIS policies, and maintain knowledge of all relevant manuals.
  • Serve as liaison to provide professional, courteous communication with staff, patients, and visitors while ensuring compliance with hospital policies and regulations.
  • Ensure staff adherence to compliance standards, maintain regulatory knowledge, and perform other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • M.T. ASCP credential or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience required.

Compensation

 In compliance with New Jersey’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position $44.00 is per hour.
