Job Summary
The Default Administration Assistant Manager is responsible for managing team members within the Default Administration team, including Bankruptcy, Foreclosure/REO, and Deceased account personnel. Compiles and delivers performance evaluations and participates in the quality review process. Be an effective leader in knowledge, skills, and morale to all of Asset Management team members. Serves as an escalation point above team members for default-related issues that require additional adeptness and expertise in servicing MACU's Bankruptcy, Foreclosure/REO, and Deceased portfolio loans and shares. Performs all duties in accordance with the company's policies and procedures, and all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.

To be effective, an individual must be able to perform each job duty successfully.
  • Supervises in-person and remote team members regarding Bankruptcy, Foreclosure/REO, and Deceased account procedures in accordance with company policy.
  • Assists in analyzing trends, team performance data, and various reports to ensure department objectives are met.
  • Resolves escalated member concerns and complaints by assisting Default Administration Team Lead and Default Administration team members and/or handling escalated calls related to Default Administration, including loss mitigation, repossession, bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO, eviction, and deceased accounts.
  • Works in conjunction with Default Administration management to ensure the Knowledge Center aligns with updated, accurate procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensures that daily processes and forms are in compliance with any changing bankruptcy laws and regulations.
  • Monitors vendor performance (bankruptcy, foreclosure, and REO) and properly notifies Default Administration Manager when performance issues occur (vendors inability/failure to comply with procedures).
  • Partners with management to continuously develop leadership skills through presentations, trainings, and credit union courses.
  • Provides coverage and back up to Default Administration Manager as needed, as well as all areas of the Default Administration team (bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO, and deceased accounts).
  • Partners with Collection and Repossession Assistant Managers to determine department-wide training needs; develops training material with Lending Training Specialist, including bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO, and deceased account training decks.
  • Partners with management and Asset Management/Lending Technology Analyst to enhance bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO, and deceased account processes in Symitar and Aperture; utilizes all, applicable tools available to effectively manage pipeline, system of record, vendor tracking software, queries, as well as control reporting.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal Bankruptcy Code, as well as state-specific laws and regulations relating to bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO, and deceased account handling.
  • Provides quality service to credit union members to resolve account issues and enhance their financial relationship with MACU.
  • Thorough understanding of all Asset Management guidelines and procedures.
  • Exemplifies role as an Assistant Manager to promote and maintain effective partnerships with your team.
  • Incorporates MACU values and philosophy while fulfilling your responsibilities as a representative of the Asset Management department and the credit union.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

Experience
  • 3+ years of bankruptcy experience working in a bankruptcy position, law firm specializing in creditor representation, or Trustee's office with experience in bankruptcy case management. With 1 year of that experience in foreclosure, eviction, loss mitigation, and/or deceased account handling.
  • Demonstrated experience leading team(s) of employees, preferably in a financial setting as team lead or through concurrent learning.
  • Understanding of basic mortgage documents, including collateral documents.

Education
  • Associate's degree from an accredited institution in business, finance, related field. Education will be verified. OR 2 additional combined years of progressive experience in bankruptcy, foreclosure, REO, and/or deceased account handling or in a progressive financial/related setting.
  • Paralegal certification or coursework preferred.
  • Additional coursework in banking and credit, collection law is preferred.

Has supervisory/managerial responsibilities, typically with a subordinate group of 3 to 15 employees. Estimates personnel needs and assigns work to meet these needs. Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff. Recommends candidates for employment, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff, and applies company policy.
Computer/Office Equipment Skills
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of PACER, CM/ECF filing, and Trustee websites (13network and/or NDC).
  • Knowledge of Xchange platform (jurisdictional, case type, and case search), as well as credit union-preferred skip tracing programs.
  • Knowledge of Ring Central dashboards and Max Agent/Nice.
  • Demonstrated experience with Symitar or other financial software preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to clearly express ideas, methodology, results, and recommendations verbally, in writing and through insightful reports and graphic illustrations.
  • Demonstrated ability to document outcomes and present information in a manner appropriate for key stakeholders and all levels of the organization.
