Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership for the cardiovascular service line, overseeing Echo, Cath Lab, EP Lab, Stress Testing, Cardiac Rehab, and the Cardiology Clinic. This role leads clinical operations, financial performance, business planning, and capital and supply budgeting. The leader will hire and oversee managers across all service areas and serve as a primary liaison to physicians, clinical teams, and support departments. This position is key in advancing cardiovascular growth, quality, patient experience, and operational excellence across the organization. Position Details:
Required Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred.

  • Equivalent executive‑level healthcare leadership experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum 5–10 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience, including operational responsibility for clinical services.

Role Scope & Leadership Expectations
  • Proven operational leader within a healthcare environment, with accountability for clinical workflows, staffing models, performance outcomes, and resource utilization.

  • Demonstrated experience translating strategic priorities into operational execution across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ownership of operational performance, including quality, access, staff effectiveness, and financial stewardship.

Clinical & Operational Expertise
  • Clinical background or operational leadership experience within procedural service lines strongly preferred (e.g., Cath Lab, EP Lab, interventional or procedural cardiovascular services).

  • Ability to partner closely with physicians, clinical leaders, and executives to optimize care delivery.

Financial & Business Acumen
  • Demonstrated capability to evaluate operational and financial data, develop business cases, and support informed decision‑making.

  • Experience with budgeting, cost‑benefit analysis, and performance reporting in a complex healthcare environment.

Leadership & Communication
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to influence, align, and lead through change.

  • Clear, concise communicator across all levels of the organization.

  • Builds accountability, sets expectations, and drives results through others.
