Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Protector, this role will support and uphold AWP's core values and mission to protect our customers' people, businesses, and time. Controls movement of vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic through work zones using hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle. Reviews, comprehends, and executes temporary traffic control plans and/or standards to ensure work zones are properly installed and maintained.
  • Coordinates and communicates with customers to ensure the safety of all workers.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove Advance Warning Signs, Channelizing Devices, and other traffic control devices according to Federal, State, and/or Local Temporary Traffic Control Guidelines and Temporary Traffic Control Plans for simple and intermediate complexity work zones.
  • Maintain a Flagger Station by standing and controlling road users through the use of hand signals with a STOP/SLOW Paddle.
  • Drive a company vehicle to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to and from work sites safely and in a timely manner. May also pull lightweight trailered equipment.
  • Effective radio communication with team members on work site.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and practices.
  • Notify Supervisor of any potential safety issues or incidents.
  • Achieve organizational required training within timeframe established by Project Manager or Facility Manager.
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protector
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety Sensitive Position
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Traffic Control Technician (TCT) Certification or 2000+ verifiable hours required
  • High School Diploma or GED completion required
  • Prior experience preferred in temporary traffic control services, utility industry, or construction industry preferred
  • Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office products and customer relationship management systems
  • Must be able to follow safe workplace practices
  • Valid Driver's License void of suspension or revocation
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Mandatory out of town work averaging 2 weeks- 2 months

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Employee must be able to successfully handle the physical demands of this position, which include the
following:
  • Hours of operation may vary due to staffing needs.
  • Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Frequent exposure to a variety of extreme conditions at job sites including high noise level in the work environment.
  • The position may work in outside conditions that include inclement weather, not limited to heat, cold, humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Position lifts or carries objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions; employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects.
  • Position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.

Competitive Hourly Pay Range: $18.50-$21.50
