Job description

At Livermore Toyota we are seeking a highly skilled Toyota Shop Foreman to lead daily shop operations and provide technical support to the service team. The ideal candidate must be a Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician (MDT) or at minimum Toyota Master Technician with extensive diagnostic and repair experience. This role serves as the technical leader of the shop, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and according to Toyota standards. 
 
 
Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership
    • Serve as the primary technical resource for all shop personnel.
    • Assist entry-level and intermediate technicians with diagnostics, repair procedures, and troubleshooting.
    • Provide guidance and mentorship to help technicians improve productivity and skill development.
    • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on complex vehicle systems.
    • Support technicians in resolving difficult warranty and customer-pay repair concerns.
    Shop Operations
    • Coordinate workflow to maximize technician efficiency and shop productivity.
    • Monitor repair quality and ensure all work meets Toyota and dealership standards.
    • Review repair orders for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
    • Work closely with service advisors and management to prioritize repairs and address customer concerns.
    • Promote and maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.
    Equipment & Tool Management
    • Ensure all shop tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices are maintained and in proper working condition.
    • Monitor calibration, maintenance, and repair needs for shop equipment.
    • Coordinate with management regarding tool replacement and equipment upgrades.
    • Enforce proper use and care of dealership tools and equipment.
    Toyota SQS Responsibilities
    • Perform and oversee Toyota Service Quality Standard (SQS) tasks.
    • Ensure compliance with Toyota repair procedures and documentation requirements.
    • Support dealership SQS initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Monitor technician adherence to Toyota quality and process standards.
    • Assist in implementing corrective actions when SQS deficiencies are identified.
Qualifications
  • Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician (MDT) certification required, or Toyota Master Technician certification with equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of dealership service experience, preferably with Toyota.
  • Strong diagnostic, electrical, and drivability troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Previous Shop Foreman or Team Leader experience.
    • ASE certifications.
    • Experience with Toyota warranty procedures and dealership management systems.
    • Strong understanding of Toyota hybrid and advanced vehicle technologies.
