POSITION OVERVIEW

The Chief Development Officer is a full-time executive position reporting to the Executive Director, leading all fundraising and communications efforts for 6 Stones Mission Network. This role develops and executes annual fundraising plans, manages a portfolio of current and prospective philanthropic donors, leads development and communications teams, grows foundation and grant relationships, coaches staff in fundraising, and represents 6 Stones in the community while achieving fundraising goals.

We're looking for someone with proven fundraising leadership experience, strong donor relationship and major gift expertise, team leadership and development skills, and passion for resource development advancing community transformation.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Strategic Fundraising Leadership:

  • Work with Executive Director and Resource Development Committee to develop and execute annual fundraising plan for programs and the general fundย 

  • Develop quantitative fundraising objectives, specific strategies, and operating budget for plan implementation

  • Meet or exceed personal fundraising goals determined annually and evaluated regularly

Donor Cultivation & Portfolio Management:

  • Carry portfolio of prospective philanthropic donors with focus on securing financial donations

  • Cultivate relationships with individuals, businesses, churches, foundations, and nonprofits to support local programs

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, coach, and manage development and communications teams (2 direct reports)

  • Supervise, motivate, and regularly evaluate reporting staff members

  • Coach and assist other staff and key volunteers in fundraising efforts

Communications & Marketing:

  • Lead and manage development and execution of annual communication plan by Marketing Coordinator

  • Oversee social media, email marketing, advertising, community partnership advertising, and various media streams

Grant & Foundation Development:

  • Lead and manage the Grants Coordinator

  • Continue and grow foundation and grant work across organization in partnership with development team

External Representation & Collaboration:

  • Regularly represent 6 Stones in community via committee representation, Chamber attendance, public presentations

  • Coordinate projects within timelines with attention to team development, correspondence, and updates

  • Perform collaborative planning and decision-making with staff, ministry teams, volunteers, and stakeholders
