Job description


Supervisory, administrative, financial and database work in assisting the Town Collector in discharging the duties of the office; all other related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in finance, accounting or related field; more than five years of applicable experience; supervisory experience preferred; thorough knowledge of recordkeeping, office procedures, practices and terminology preferred; awareness of state and local laws relating to the Town Collector's office preferred; Massachusetts Municipal Assistant Collector certification preferred; or any equivalent of education and experience. Ability to be bonded
Additional Qualifications:
Complete working knowledge of bookkeeping and recordkeeping procedures. Thorough knowledge of office procedures, practices and terminology. Complete knowledge of the use of office and data processing equipment, accounting practices, and business language. Familiarity with pertinent state and local laws relating to the Town Collector's office preferred.
Ability to organize time, work independently and accomplish tasks despite frequent interruptions; maintain detailed records and statistics; supervise subordinates effectively; establish and maintain cooperative and constructive relationships with the public.
Applicant should have proficiency or familiarity with common municipal business computer programs and applications:

  • Familiar with Microsoft Office PowerPoint
  • Familiar with common database programs
