Job Purpose
The Tournament Sales Manager drives revenue through the proactive acquisition, planning, and execution of golf tournaments and group outings. This role cultivates strong relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and event planners to grow tournament business while ensuring each event is expertly coordinated from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up. The Tournament Sales Manager collaborates closely with Operations, Food amp; Beverage, and Marketing to deliver seamless, professional events that reflect American Golf’s high standards of service and hospitality.
Responsibilities
  • Generate new tournament and outing business through prospecting, networking, outreach campaigns, and inbound lead management
  • Conduct detailed needs assessments with clients to offer appropriate tournament packages, enhancements, and services
  • Prepare proposals, pricing, contracts, and event documentation with accuracy and attention to financial performance
  • Partner with Operations and F amp;B teams to ensure events are properly coordinated, staffed, and executed
  • Oversee event logistics including tee times, formats, scoring systems, sponsorship setups, signage, and merchandise coordination
  • Maintain strong client relationships through frequent communication, site visits, and personalized engagement
  • Act as on-site liaison during tournament days, ensuring a positive experience for guests and resolving issues promptly
  • Complete post-event follow-up including billing review, client feedback, and opportunities for future bookings
  • Track pipeline activity, maintain CRM accuracy, and report on sales performance against revenue targets
  • Support marketing initiatives, promotions, and community partnerships that increase visibility of tournament offerings
  • Represent American Golf at networking events and industry functions to build brand presence
  • Ensure all policies, legal requirements, and service standards are upheld throughout sales and event processes
Qualifications
  • Previous experience in event sales, hospitality sales, golf operations, or related field required
  • Strong sales acumen with proven ability to meet or exceed revenue targets
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple events simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of golf formats, terminology, and tournament structure preferred
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and point-of-sale systems
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on location
Working Conditions
  • Primary work environment is a clubhouse office setting with frequent time spent outdoors on the golf course during tournaments
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., assist with event setup, and walk the course as needed
  • Regular interaction with guests, customers, and vendors in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
  • Schedule may vary to support peak business times and event execution
