SUMMARY:
As a Tool Room Supervisor at METTLER-TOLEDO, you will lead a dynamic team responsible for the maintenance, organization, and optimization of precision tools and equipment critical to manufacturing excellence. This role demands a proactive leader with advanced knowledge in tool management and a commitment to continuous improvement, working closely across manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams. You will drive operational efficiency, ensure the highest standards of quality and safety, and foster an environment that aligns with METTLER-TOLEDO's core values of integrity, innovation, and teamwork
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee daily tool room operations, including tool storage, cataloging, calibration, maintenance, repair, and return-to-service processes.
  • Manage daily operations of the tool room to ensure tools and equipment are maintained, repaired, and calibrated to meet stringent quality and safety standards.
  • Plan, prioritize, and schedule tool usage to optimize production throughput; monitor work queues and allocate resources effectively.
  • Manage tool inventory, cycle counts, reorder points, and supplier relationships; maintain accurate ERP/MES tool records and part numbers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and quality departments to optimize tooling solutions that enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Mentor, train, and develop tool room staff; conduct performance feedback, coaching, and development plans; participate in recruiting and onboarding of new team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in tool room operations, including reducing setup times, scrap, and downtime; lead projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or other problem-solving methodologies.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures; conduct risk assessments, housekeeping, and 5S activities; champion a culture of safe work practices.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards; maintain documentation, process controls, and audit readiness.

What You Need to Succeed
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or related technical field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA Safety, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt) are highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a tool room, tooling, or shop floor environment within manufacturing, preferably in precision instrumentation or related high-precision industries.
  • Prior supervisory or team-lead experience (minimum 2 years) with demonstrated ability to manage, coach, and assess staff performance.
  • Experience with tool design, fixture development, and tooling lifecycle management is highly preferred.
