JOB SUMMARY:
As a Tim Hortons Baker, you are responsible for preparing all baked goods to brand standards during the early morning shift, starting at 3:00 AM. You play a vital role in ensuring the store opens with a full, fresh, and visually appealing selection of baked products. This position requires attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work independently while maintaining food safety and cleanliness standards. In addition to baking responsibilities, you will also support general crew duties such as operating the cash register, assisting with customer service, and helping in other stations as needed to ensure smooth store operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare baked goods (donuts, bagels, muffins, etc.) according to Tim Hortons standards
  • Monitor timers, proofers, and ovens to ensure consistent baking results
  • Accurately record production times, waste, and quantities
  • Mix glazes, icings, and other toppings as required
  • Adjust production levels based on demand and freshness standards
  • Ensure all baked items are stocked and attractively displayed before store opening
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary baking station throughout the shift
  • Follow food safety procedures, including handwashing and temperature checks
  • Clean and sanitize baking equipment, tools, and storage areas regularly
  • Ensure proper labeling, rotation, and storage of ingredients and products.
  • Assist at the cash register and drive-thru during peak hours
  • Take customer orders and handle cash using the in-house POS system
  • Restock front-of-house and drive-thru stations as needed
  • Upsell bakery items and combo options when interacting with customers
  • Collaborate with teammates to ensure efficient store operations.
  • Comply with all store policies, procedures, and safety standards
  • Report to work on time for the 3:00 AM shift and follow attendance policies
  • Only operate baking equipment once properly trained
  • Notify management of any hazards, supply issues, or customer concerns
  • Maintain a neat, professional appearance and wear the required uniform

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCES
  • Ability to consistently report to work on time for a 3:00 AM shift, including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous experience in baking, food prep, or working in a kitchen environment is preferred but not required.
  • Capable of following precise recipes, baking times, and presentation standards.
  • Able to work independently and efficiently to meet tight morning deadlines for product readiness.
  • Comfortable with long periods of standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in hot and cold environments.
  • Knowledge of basic food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness practices or willingness to be trained.
  • to support other store roles, including customer service and POS operations, when needed.

PHYSICAL RQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to reliably report for work by 3:00 AM, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk on hard surfaces for the entire shift, move quickly in a fast-paced environment, and perform repetitive motions safely and efficiently.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move items weighing up to 50 lbs, including ingredient bags, trays, and boxes, multiple times throughout the shift.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling baking tools, decorating, kneading, and preparing items; must reach above shoulders and below waist level regularly.
  • Comfortable working in environments with temperature extremes-such as ovens, hot prep areas, and walk-in coolers/freezers-and capable of bending, stooping, and loading equipment safely.

Success as an Tim Hortons Baker at Tarbell Management Group will be demonstrated through:
  • All required baked items are prepared on time, visually appealing, and meet Tim Hortons' quality and freshness standards before the store opens.
  • Follows recipes, baking times, and portion sizes exactly; keeps waste minimal and production logs complete and accurate.
  • Workstations, equipment, and tools are always clean, sanitized, and ready; safety and food handling standards are strictly followed.
  • Arrives consistently for the 3:00 AM shift, ready to work, with minimal absences or tardiness; communicates proactively when issues arise.
  • Willingly steps in to help with customer service, POS, or other crew duties as needed-especially during busy times-while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude.
