ย What the Assistant Teacher does:

The Assistant Teacher supports classroom programming and instruction for students, working closely with teachers and program staff to ensure a safe, structured, and engaging learning environment.

The Assistant Teacher assists with:

  • Supporting individual, small-group, and whole-class instruction as directed by the teacher
  • Assisting in daily classroom organization, planning, and preparation
  • Monitoring and recording student behavior data and progress
  • Assisting with point sheets, reports, and classroom documentation
  • Implementing individualized behavior programs and classroom systems
  • Supervising students to ensure safety at all times, including bus duty, off-campus activities, and transitions
  • Supporting vocational programming as needed in coordination with the vocational team
  • Supervising the classroom in the absence of the teacher when assigned
  • Communicating with PHILLIPS staff and supporting collaboration across the team
  • Assisting with medication administration, data collection, and other program-related tasks
