What is a title assistant?

Title Assistants are professionals who support title officers and escrow agents in real estate transactions by researching property records, preparing documentation, and ensuring all necessary information is accurate and complete. They play a crucial role in the title process by investigating liens, encumbrances, and legal ownership to help facilitate the smooth transfer of property titles. Title Assistants often interact with clients, lenders, and other parties to gather required information and help resolve issues that may arise during the transaction.

What does a title assistant do?

A title assistant plays a supportive role in closing a real estate transaction. Responsibilities include handling the necessary documents and files for the title insurance and escrow processes. Duties also include administrative tasks such as setting up appointments, answering phones, and communicating with the parties involved in the sale. You often conduct title or lien searches, clear defects, carry out bookkeeping functions, send out invoices, and post payments. Many title assistants find employment with either title companies or insurance firms. Work is typically full-time during regular business hours in an office environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a title assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Title Assistant, you need strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and basic knowledge of real estate or title insurance processes, often requiring a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with title software systems, document management tools, and office productivity software is typically expected. Excellent communication, time management, and customer service skills help you liaise effectively with clients and team members. These skills ensure that title searches, documentation, and closings are handled accurately and efficiently, minimizing errors and delays in real estate transactions.

What are some common challenges faced by title assistants, and how can they be managed effectively?

Title Assistants often face challenges such as managing a high volume of documentation, ensuring accuracy in title searches, and meeting tight deadlines for real estate transactions. Staying organized and developing strong attention to detail are crucial for success in this role. Effective communication with title officers, escrow agents, and clients also helps prevent errors and ensures smooth workflow. Utilizing digital tools and checklists can further streamline processes and reduce the risk of oversight.

Job description

Employment Opportunity: Regional Apprenticeship Consultant

(Official Title: Assistant Training Director)

About Wisconsin Electrical Apprenticeship & Training

The Wisconsin National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) - International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Apprenticeship & Training office is a joint collaboration with IBEW local unions and signatory employers from throughout Wisconsin. The statewide JATC comprises eight local regions, each representing different geographic areas across Wisconsin. Each region partners with local educational institutions to maintain the standards of our apprenticeship programs and support the development of skilled professionals in the electrical industry.

Join a team that is shaping Wisconsin's future workforce.

We're looking for a collaborative, relationship-focused professional who enjoys building partnerships, facilitating productive conversations, solving problems, and helping individuals and organizations succeed.

As a Regional Apprenticeship Consultant (ATD), you'll serve as a trusted advisor to apprenticeship committees across Wisconsin, helping local leaders develop the next generation of skilled electrical professionals. Every day brings something differentโ€”from facilitating committee meetings and supporting apprentice selection processes to interpreting policies, improving programs, coordinating projects, and strengthening partnerships statewide.

If you're energized by working with people, managing multiple priorities, and making a meaningful impact through collaboration, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

This position combines relationship management, stakeholder engagement, committee facilitation, project management, and program operations. You'll partner with regional apprenticeship committees, employers, labor representatives, apprentices, applicants, educational institutions, and state agencies to ensure apprenticeship programs are well-supported, consistent, and successful.

Relationship Management & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary consultant and trusted advisor for assigned regional apprenticeship committees.
  • Build strong working relationships with employers, labor representatives, committee members, apprentices, applicants, educational partners, and state agencies.
  • Foster collaboration while helping diverse stakeholders work toward shared goals.
  • Provide responsive customer service and professional support to partners across Wisconsin.

Committee & Meeting Facilitation

  • Plan and facilitate committee meetings.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, record and publish meeting minutes, and track action items.
  • Guide committees in interpreting apprenticeship policies and applying them consistently.
  • Support committee decision-making by providing accurate information and operational guidance.
  • Assist in administering local Training Trust Funds, including preparing financial statements, audits, budgets, IRS filings, investments, and expenditures.

Program & Project Management

  • Coordinate apprenticeship recruitment, interviews, registrations, enrollments, and related activities.
  • Lead multiple projects while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase consistency across apprenticeship programs.
  • Monitor program activity and prepare reports for committees and organizational leadership.

Workforce Development

  • Support initiatives that strengthen Wisconsin's skilled trades workforce.
  • Partner with technical colleges, training organizations, contractors, unions, and state agencies.

ยท        Help local apprenticeship programs provide exceptional experiences for apprentices and employers.

What Makes Someone Successful

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy organizing great work.

Successful candidates typically demonstrate strengths in:

  • Relationship management
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Committee and meeting facilitation
  • Project management
  • Policy interpretation and problem solving
  • Organizational and time management
  • Written and verbal communication
  • Process improvement and continuous learning
  • Collaboration and customer service
  • Technology proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Teams, Adobe Acrobat, and other business applications

Preferred Qualifications

The following experiences are helpful but not required:

  • Workforce development or education programs
  • Program administration or operations
  • Association or nonprofit management
  • Program standards and compliance coordinator
  • Customer success or client relationship management
  • Skilled trades, apprenticeship, or career pathway programs
  • Postsecondary education

We recognize that excellent candidates may come from a variety of industries and professional backgrounds. If your experience aligns with the responsibilities of this roleโ€”even if it isn't in the electrical industryโ€”we encourage you to apply.

Work Location

Our preference is for this position to be based in our Madison home office. We also welcome applications from qualified candidates throughout Wisconsin who can regularly travel to Madison for onboarding, team collaboration, and monthly in-person meetings.

Frequent travel throughout Wisconsin is an essential part of this role, including committee meetings, partner visits, and apprenticeship-related events. Most travel occurs during the workweek, with evening meetings and occasional overnight travel.

Regular on-site work at our Madison, WI office with frequent statewide travel (1 to 2 days/evenings a week) with overnight stays (1 to 2 nights a month).

Compensation

ยท        Competitive salary ($80,000.00 to $100,000.00) and comprehensive benefits package, including employer-sponsored healthcare insurance, pension, and company-provided vehicle.

Application Process

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Candidate interviews will be scheduled on an as-needed basis, with an expected start date of fall 2026. Please submit your resume, cover letter, and supporting documentation to:
