Job description

Southwest Concrete Paving is an established concrete paving company specializing in military airfield construction across the western United States. At Southwest we believe that quality and safety come first and have spent considerable resources to assure those components are emphasized on every project. The Project Engineer is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and managing onsite construction engineering activities for concrete paving and heavy civil construction projects to ensure quality and cost control. This position will be located at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The individual must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Some night and weekend work will be required.
PRIMARY DUTIES
  • Manage job controls to ensure compliance with contract, budget, schedule, forecasting and job costing.
  • Develop and maintain project schedule to ensure work is completed on time and under budget.
  • Provide support in construction planning, quality control, application of construction methods, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, and constructability reviews to ensure successful job completion.
  • Represent company during client and project management meetings to ensure effective communication.
  • Manage and coordinate schedules for all subcontractors and ensure they submit all required documents in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the preparation of submittals and RFI's as needed.
  • Track production quantities for SWCP and subcontractors.
  • Act as the onsite point person for SWCP personnel and all subcontractors.
  • Work closely with Project Manager and other Department Managers to ensure successful completion of the project.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be available to work all shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, and methods), negotiations, engineering, cost control schedules and safety required.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (preferred)
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check

EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Suite Applications.
  • Working knowledge of Blue Beam and OST preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with Heavy Job and HCSS preferred but not required.
  • Must have valid driver's license and REAL ID.
