Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs entry level maintenance work including grounds keeping, cleaning, and maintaining Mercer Valve facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Remove and replace faucets, drains, work on commercial toilets and urinals.
- Patch, tape, finish sheetrock for painting. Strip and wax floors.
- Change filters, belts, motors, and verify oil levels.
- Work with pressure bearing systems with air and liquid.
- Ability to follow required Lock Out Tag Out procedures.
- Remove and replace switches, plugs, light bulbs, etc.
- Ability to diagnose basic electrical problems.
- Support a clean work environment.
- Observing and following all safety rules, attending safety trainings as necessary.
- Maintain documentation and follow work orders accordingly, ensuring all documentation is filled out completely.
- Move building furniture when needed.
- Performs maintenance of building, sidewalks, and parking areas, which includes snow removal and ice removal.
- Handling and relocating of waste supplies such as pallets, wood crates, metal chips for the purpose of recycling or disposal.
- Works with all types of ladders.
- Using company vehicles, forklifts, golf cars, and riding lawn mowers to complete tasks.
- Ensures that work order requests are responded to promptly and professionally.
- Perform regular maintenance on tools, equipment to include cleaning, storage and inventory.
- Routine mowing, weed eating, and edging of all OKC Mercer lawns is required.
- Trimming trees and hedges on company grounds is required.
- Pruning plants and pulling weeds in flower beds on company property is required.
- Cleaning up litter and emptying outside trash receptacles is required.
- Performing routine lawn treatments including the application of chemicals such as weed killers and fertilizer is required.
*Employees may be required to work more or less than 40 hours/week as part of their regular schedule based on production needs.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Ability to drive a company vehicle is required.
- Ability to operate a forklift is preferred.
- Ability to operate a scissor lift is preferred.
- Ability to operate a golf car is required.
- Ability to use a ladder is required.
- Ability to operate a riding lawn mower is required.
- Ability to use grounds keeping equipment such as lawn mowers, edgers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers, etc. is required.
- Ability to use grounds keeping tools such as clippers, trimmers, shovels, etc. is required.
- Ability to use computers and a company email account.
- Ability to operate company smart phone and write and respond to text messages.
- Ability to read and follow both verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to understand and follow all Safety policies and guidelines as required by the job.
- Ability to walk/stand/stoop for several hours daily, including walking between buildings in various weather conditions.
- Ability to regularly lift/push/pull objects within safety limits.
- Attention to detail and dedication to maintaining facilities.
- Ability to use hand/power tools such as hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers, saws, power screwdrivers, and drills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and contractors.
