Position Overview

The Arizona Department of Revenue (AZDOR) is seeking a Customer Service Representative III (CSR 3) to support its Taxpayer Services Division. This is a customer-facing, in-person role focused primarily on taxpayer licensing and payment processing. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills, experience handling payments, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.

This position requires on-site work in Mesa, with possible travel to the Phoenix office based on operational needs. Work schedules will align with the assigned office’s business hours.


Key Responsibilities
  • Assist taxpayers in person with licensing-related inquiries and services
  • Receive, process, and apply payments for all tax types, including cash, checks, debit/credit cards, and money orders
  • Accurately post payments to personal and business taxpayer accounts
  • Process new license applications, renewals, and account updates
  • Provide clear information regarding licensing laws, rules, and procedures
  • Perform daily reconciliation and end-of-day balancing of assigned cash till
  • Maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with state policies and procedures
  • Operate effectively in a high-production, customer-focused environment

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience:
    • 2+ years of customer service experience
    • 1+ year working in a high-production or fast-paced environment
    • Prior experience with cash handling
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, etc.)
  • Availability:
    • Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer acceptance
    • Must be available for in-person interviews within 1 week of posting close date

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
