Job description

Theย Senior Systems Engineerย is responsible for the execution of the strategic vision for our MS area. You will help to identify new opportunities that create value for the company and are aligned with our vision.

Job Functions

  • Define and continuously improve the service delivery model (SLA design, escalation paths, workflows, documentation standards).
  • Manage MS P&L performance, including margins, labor utilization, and recurring revenue targets.
  • Partner with leadership to set quarterly goals and operational KPIs.
Service Delivery & Operations
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality execution of core MS:
    • End-user support (Desk Side / Remote Support)
    • Microsoft 365 administration and security
    • Endpoint protection / patching / monitoring
    • Backup & disaster recovery
    • Network management (firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi)
  • Implement and maintain MS best practices for ticketing, documentation, change management, and incident response.
  • Lead tool standardization across security stack, backup, and remote access.
Customer Success & Account Management
  • Serve as escalation point for high-impact incidents and customer issues.
  • Conduct onboarding/offboarding for new managed services clients, including discovery and baseline documentation.
  • Proactively identify risks, improvement opportunities, and upsell paths aligned to customer outcomes.
Technical Leadership (Hands-On as Needed)
  • Provide escalation support when required.
  • Guide technical standards for:
    • Networking design and implementation
    • Microsoft 365
    • Security controls (MFA, conditional access, endpoint protection, DNS filtering)
    • Backup/DR configurations and testing
  • Support project-to-managed handoff for completed cabling/security/AV installs to ensure ongoing service continuity.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop MSP staff.
  • Create training paths and technical standards so the team can scale effectively.
  • Participate in hiring decisions and performance management for MS roles.
Sales Enablement & Growth Support
  • Partner with sales and leadership to scope new opportunities and build proposals.
  • Support estimating and packaging for managed services bundles (per-user, per-device, hybrid models).
  • Assist with cross-selling where MS creates added value (e.g., cybersecurity upgrades network refresh, camera/VMS support, AV monitoring).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in a small MSP or small integrator environment (structured cabling, security, AV)
  • Familiarity with common MSP tooling (examples): ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA, Datto, NinjaOne, Kaseya, Huntress, SentinelOne, Sophos, Fortinet, Meraki, Ubiquiti
  • Knowledge of premise security systems (access control, cameras/VMS) and/or AV support models
  • Certifications (preferred): Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Fortinet NSE, Cisco, ITIL, etc.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • 5+ years in IT support / systems / network administration, including managed services experience
  • 1+ years leading a team OR demonstrated ownership of service delivery operations
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Microsoft 365
    • Business networking (firewalls, switching, VLANs, Wi-Fi)
    • Endpoint management, patching, and remote support tools
    • Backup/DR concepts and execution
    • Cybersecurity fundamentals (MFA, EDR, phishing protection, least privilege)
  • Strong customer communication and escalation management skills
  • Ability to document processes, improve systems, and drive consistency
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the Senior Systems Engineer is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time; talk; hear; listen and use hands, arms and fingers. This position also requires the ability to travel for customer meetings and jobsite walk-thru. During site visits, you may be required to wear PPE (safety glasses, hard hats, safety shoes, gloves and hearing protection).
