Summary of Position:

Our casual, high volume bar and dining area at The Hampton Social is searching for an experienced bartender. Responsibilities include serving bar patrons as well as dining room guests, monitoring the cash drawer and following company policies. Bartenders that work with us are lively, outgoing, engaging individuals who pay close attention to detail and can handle multitasking in various high-energy situations and settings. If you enjoy mixing drinks, handling money and entertaining customers to keep the area lively and exciting for patrons, then this job is the one for you. Essential Functions:

  • Greets customers and takes food and/or beverage order; provides information about products and looks for opportunity to discuss our featured items
  • Follows recipes and/or product directions for mixing beverages
  • Collects payments and operates cash registers for drinks and/or food served following company established cash handling policies and procedures for all transactions; secures all monies at the end of each shift
  • Follows alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and deals with intoxicated guests
  • Follows all PH processes for customer service, adult beverage and cash handling policies and procedures
  • Ensures a clean, sanitized and well stocked bar
  • Adheres to all company safety and sanitation policies and procedures

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accept direction and constructive criticism from management.
  • Be able to work a variety of hours, days and shifts, including weekends and increased work schedules.
  • Maintain a positive, pleasant attitude every shift.
  • Must be able to stand or walk for the majority of a shift.
  • Must be able to work at approximately 36 table/bar and reach 36.
  • Must be able to lift and carry sacks, boxes, product up to 50 pounds from floor to waist level, approximately 20 feet.
  • Must be able to reach (6 to overhead), bend, stoop, wipe.
  • Must be willing to perform other duties assigned as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must meet state minimum age for serving alcoholic beverages
  • Must be able to communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the restaurants trading area.
  • Requires at least 1 year of closely related bartending experience, work experience in high volume or fast casual dining restaurant environment preferred
  • Requires knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits as well as their preparation and presentation keeping updated on new and revised beverage recipes
  • Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner
  • Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
  • Cash handling and customer service experience preferred
  • Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions
  • Must have the stamina to work 50 to 60 hours per week.

General Rules:

  • Get along with others and be a team player.
  • Follow all uniform and appearance guidelines as befitting the image of the restaurant for the duration of the shift.
  • Refrain from smoking for the duration of the shift.
  • Arrive to work on time and in ready to work condition.
  • Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • May not work under the influence of alcohol or any illegal drugs.
  • May not resort to any type of violence, discriminatory or harassing behavior.
  • Must successfully pass a drug and alcohol test within 90 days of hire date, where applicable.

*This position is part of a Service Charge pay model and is compensated primarily through commission-based earnings from service charges on guest checks that are shared among certain front-of-the-house team members. This position may also receive tips from customers. Additional details will be provided during the interview process.
