The ideal candidate brings 3 or more years of hands-on marketing or communications experience, strong independent judgment, and the ability to own their lane without close supervision. During the initial onboarding period, this role will cover the full scope of the Digital Marketing Specialist seat while that team member is on leave, requiring someone who can step in and run at full capacity from day one.
Job Competencies
โ€ข Ability to own a communications lane independently, managing multiple priorities and deadlines without close supervision.
โ€ข Strong copywriting skills with the ability to match tone to platform, audience, and ministry context.
โ€ข Proficiency in managing email and text marketing campaigns, including list segmentation and performance reporting.
โ€ข Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to coordinate design requests and project manage across internal teams and external vendors.

Job Responsibilities
1. Internal Communications
โ€ข Plan, build, and deploy email marketing campaigns in Mailchimp, including list segmentation and performance monitoring.
โ€ข Manage text message campaigns through SlickText, ensuring timely and targeted communication.
โ€ข Maintain and grow email and text subscriber lists with a focus on list health and engagement.
โ€ข Track and report on campaign metrics (open rates, click-through rates, conversions) and make data-informed recommendations for improvement.
โ€ข Coordinate and manage the internal communications calendar to ensure ministry teams are supported and no communication needs fall through the cracks.
2. Copywriting
โ€ข Write compelling, on-brand copy for digital channels including email campaigns, text messages, social media, and event promotions.
โ€ข Maintain consistency with Mercy Hill's voice, style guidelines, and theological distinctives across all written content.
โ€ข Support series and event communications by drafting copy that serves both internal audiences and outward-facing campaigns as needed.
โ€ข Contribute ideas to content planning and assist with research as needed.
3. Social Media - Existing Church Community
โ€ข Own social media content specifically serving people already connected to Mercy Hill, including series engagement content, discipleship next-step promotions, ministry campaigns, and internal event announcements.
โ€ข Plan and schedule content across Instagram and Facebook using a content calendar, ensuring alignment with current sermon series, Group sign-ups, serving opportunities, giving campaigns, and Go trips.
โ€ข Write captions and coordinate supporting visuals that speak to existing attenders and move them along the discipleship journey (Group, Give, Go).
โ€ข Monitor comments and messages across platforms, responding or routing to the appropriate team member in a timely manner.
โ€ข Pull and report on community-facing social metrics (engagement rate, reach among existing audience, story interactions) on a regular cadence and bring insights back to the team.
4. Design Request Coordination
โ€ข Serve as the intake point for design and production requests from ministry teams, triaging and routing requests appropriately to the Graphic Designer or Church Media Squad.
โ€ข Manage the design request workflow in ClickUp, ensuring deadlines are tracked and nothing falls behind.
โ€ข Communicate clearly with ministry teams about timelines, priorities, and scope so the creative team is protected from unfiltered open access.
โ€ข Ensure all design requests align with brand standards before they reach production.
5. Photography Volunteer Team
โ€ข Serve as the primary point of contact for Mercy Hill's volunteer photography team, coordinating scheduling for weekend services and key church events as needed.
โ€ข Communicate shoot needs and expectations clearly to volunteers, ensuring the right coverage is in place for central events and series moments.
โ€ข Collect and organize photo assets after shoots, routing final selects to the appropriate team members for use across digital and print channels.
6. Coverage Responsibilities (Onboarding Period)
